Baldur's Gate 3, despite being over a year old, continues to captivate players with its immersive gameplay, leading many to multiple playthroughs. However, with Larian Studios moving on from the series, the future of Baldur's Gate rests with Hasbro. Fortunately, we won't have to wait long for an update.

Speaking at the Game Developers Conference, Dan Ayoub, Hasbro's SVP of digital games, revealed significant interest within Hasbro in the Baldur's Gate franchise following Larian's departure. He hinted at upcoming announcements regarding the franchise's future, stating that Hasbro will soon share details about their plans.

While Ayoub didn't specify whether these announcements concern a full-fledged Baldur's Gate 4 or a different project, such as a crossover similar to the previous Magic: The Gathering collaboration, he confirmed Hasbro's long-term ambition to develop Baldur's Gate 4, acknowledging that such an undertaking would require considerable time. He emphasized a measured approach, prioritizing careful planning over rushing the development process.

Ayoub acknowledged the immense pressure to deliver a high-quality successor to Baldur's Gate 3, a pressure that extends to other Dungeons & Dragons projects under Hasbro's purview, including a previously announced game. He expressed confidence in Hasbro's ability to meet the challenge, stating that the high expectations encourage creative innovation and elevate the overall quality of their projects.

A broader conversation with Ayoub covered various topics, including Magic: The Gathering, the partnership with Saber Interactive, and Hasbro's overall gaming strategy. A full interview will be available next week.
