Insomniac Games Remains Tight-Lipped on Marvel's Wolverine Release Date
Insomniac Games recently shared its future plans, but remained silent on updates for its highly anticipated title, Marvel's Wolverine. While the studio confirmed a busy future with "ambitious projects," Co-Head Chad Dezern stated in a Variety interview that information on upcoming releases, including Wolverine's potential 2025 launch, would not be disclosed. "We have to hold on to the excitement," Dezern explained.
Wolverine's Development: A Look Back
Initially unveiled during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase with a cinematic trailer, Marvel's Wolverine is confirmed for PlayStation 5. A 2023 interview with Kinda Funny revealed from Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar that Wolverine shares the same universe ("1048") as Spider-Man, fueling fan speculation of potential crossovers. So far, the only crossover element is a Wolverine-themed suit ("The Best There Is") in Spider-Man 2 for Miles Morales. A December 2023 ransomware attack briefly exposed some Wolverine development assets to the public.
Insomniac's Current Projects and Future Plans
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is launching on PC on January 30, 2025 (announced at New York Comic-Con 2025). Insomniac clarified that no further DLC is planned for the game, although the PC version will include all post-PS5 release updates, such as new suits and New Game+. Both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will be available.
