WoW Delays Plunderstorm Expansion Launch

WoW's Plunderstorm Event Delayed Due to Unexpected Issues

World of Warcraft has postponed the relaunch of its Plunderstorm event due to unforeseen technical difficulties. While initially slated for January 14th, 2025, a specific new launch time remains unannounced. Blizzard aims to resolve the issues and launch Plunderstorm before the end of January 14th.

Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected problems arose during the planned server maintenance, resulting in a delay beyond the initially extended eight-hour downtime.

Plunderstorm Launch Timeline:

  • Before the end of January 14th, 2025, pending resolution of unforeseen issues.

In the meantime, World of Warcraft's regular servers are operational. Players can engage in other activities, such as completing Siren Isle weeklies, participating in the Turbulent Timeways event, or pursuing other content within the game.

The upcoming Plunderstorm iteration includes new features like the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface. These additions may be contributing to the current technical challenges.

Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops campaign is active. Viewers can earn the Coward's Azure Target transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. This reward is obtainable regardless of the streamer playing Plunderstorm.
