XB: Chronicles X: Definitive Edition Plot Revealed

A new trailer for Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition unveils intriguing plot details and character interactions. The "Year is 2054" trailer, narrated by protagonist Elma, recounts the events leading to humanity's arrival on the planet Mira after Earth's destruction in an intergalactic war. The video showcases gameplay adapted for the Nintendo Switch, eliminating the reliance on the Wii U's GamePad.

The Xenoblade Chronicles series, a JRPG franchise from Monolith Soft, initially saw limited Western release for its first installment. However, fan support propelled its popularity, resulting in three sequels and a spin-off (Xenoblade Chronicles X). This Definitive Edition brings the entire series to the Nintendo Switch.

The trailer highlights the desperate escape aboard the White Whale ark and the subsequent crash landing on Mira, leaving the Lifehold – a crucial stasis technology – lost. The player's mission is to locate the Lifehold before its power depletes.

Expanded Narrative and Gameplay Enhancements

The original Xenoblade Chronicles X concluded with a cliffhanger. The Definitive Edition promises new story content, potentially resolving this unresolved ending. The game's scope is vast, demanding exploration of Mira, probe deployment, and combat against diverse creatures to secure humanity's survival.

The Wii U version heavily utilized the GamePad for mapping and interactions. The Switch adaptation seamlessly integrates these features, transferring GamePad functionality to a dedicated menu. A mini-map now resides in the upper-right corner, consistent with other Xenoblade titles, and other UI elements have been reorganized onto the main screen. While the UI appears uncluttered, these adjustments may subtly alter gameplay compared to the original.
