Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana progressively introduces challenging bosses, encouraging players to master the game's mechanics. While not excessively long, the game features a satisfying number of boss encounters.

Initially, players might require some guidance, but Gyalva, the Lord of the Blazing Prison, presents a significant challenge only accessible after a solid understanding of combat, abilities, and game mechanics.

How to Defeat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

  • Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
  • Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)

Following the defeat of Guilen, the Fire Eater, players advance through the Zone of Lava to confront Gyalva. Strategically positioning yourself at either end of the bridge significantly simplifies this encounter.

Due to limited movement options and the constantly shifting bridge platforms, the fight demands quick reflexes. Players should repeatedly jump to engage Gyalva, utilizing wind magic for maximum damage output within short bursts.

The Ys series consistently ranks among Nihon Falcom's finest, and conquering its bosses provides immense satisfaction.

Gyalva's Attack Patterns in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana

While a remake of Ys 3, Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana introduces original bosses, including Gyalva. Although the fight's core mechanics are straightforward, Gyalva's attacks inflict substantial damage quickly. Gyalva moves across the bridge, often launching sections into the air with fiery attacks.

It's advisable to significantly upgrade Adol before engaging Gyalva, aiming for at least level 21. Consistent combat against smaller enemies helps expedite this process.

Spinning Attacks

Gyalva employs two spinning attacks. The first targets a bridge section, launching affected platforms into the air. The second is a full-bridge sweep. Both attacks are devastating to under-leveled players.

To avoid the first attack, quickly move to the unaffected side of the bridge. For the second, retreat to either ledge at the bridge's ends. Staying close to one side ensures a safe escape to the edge.

Avoid the very end of the bridge to prevent being cornered. Instead, strategically move along the bridge, attacking Gyalva before retreating to the nearest ledge.

Fire Blast

Gyalva unleashes fireballs onto the bridge, launching platforms upward. While damaging, this attack provides an opportunity to land several hits on Gyalva.

Bursting Torches

Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball moving between them. These bursts are unpredictable but create safe windows for movement once subsided.
