A video surfaced online in late January demonstrating a tool allowing hackers to remove players from Black Ops 6 matches. Activision responded, stating the video was from the Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta and that the vulnerability was patched before the game's November release. They affirmed their commitment to investigating such reports, emphasizing the video doesn't reflect the game's current state.
However, players dispute Activision's claim, citing continued use of the tool. Evidence presented includes a video showcasing the program's use during a match on the Nuketown map—a map added to Black Ops 6 a week post-launch.
Black Ops 6 achieved top-selling game status in the US last year, according to Circana analysts, continuing the Call of Duty franchise's 16-year reign at the top of the US gaming charts. Meanwhile, EA Sports College Football 25, released in July, emerged as the most played sports game in the US.
Despite a 1.1% year-over-year decline in overall US gamer spending in 2024, Circana attributes this to reduced hardware demand, noting a 2% increase in add-on spending and a 6% rise in service spending. Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2 will launch their second season on January 28th, featuring a ninja theme and a crossover with the Terminator universe.
