How to Play:
Connect letters in any direction – up, down, left, right, or diagonally – to create words. Your objective is to uncover all hidden words and achieve the highest possible score.
Game Rules:
- Scoring: Earn one point for each letter in a word (minimum 4 letters). A five-letter word earns 5 points.
- Letter Usage: Each tile can only be used once per word.
- Word Restrictions: Hyphenated words, proper nouns, offensive language, and uncommon terms are excluded.
Bonus Features:
- Bonus Words: Discover obscure, archaic, or slang terms for bonus points. These words don't affect your main score but add to a separate bonus list. You can continue hunting for these even after finding all the main words.
- Word of the Day: Each puzzle contains a special, often lengthy bonus word. Finding it grants you two extra hints!
- Daily Puzzle: A new Squares puzzle awaits you every day at midnight.
Strategic Gameplay:
- Grid Rotation: Rotate the grid left or right using the bottom-right corner buttons for a fresh perspective. Different angles can unlock hidden words.
- Letter Hints: Once you've found 40% of the words, a hint system activates. Numbers on each letter indicate how many words begin with that letter (0 means no words start with that letter). Letters turning orange are no longer used in main words but might appear in bonus words.
- Hints System: Each puzzle offers 3-5 hints (lightbulb icons). Using a hint reveals the first letter of a random word and its search direction. The number of hints depends on the puzzle's difficulty. Sharing the game link with friends earns you an extra hint!
