Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Receives Classic Modes and Map, Addresses Post-Launch Issues
Following its recent release, Black Ops 6 is adding two highly-anticipated game modes and a beloved map. The developer, Treyarch, announced via Twitter (X) that the popular "Infected" mode will launch on Thursday, followed by the iconic Nuketown map on Friday, November 1st.
Infected, a staple in the Call of Duty franchise, pits players against each other in a thrilling survival game against AI-controlled zombies. Nuketown, originally introduced in Call of Duty: Black Ops (2010), is a fan-favorite map set in a 1950s-era nuclear test site. Activision previously confirmed a plan for regular post-launch content additions. Black Ops 6 launched with 11 standard multiplayer modes, including variations with disabled Scorestreaks and a Hardcore mode.
A recent update addressed several post-launch issues affecting both multiplayer and Zombies modes. Improvements include increased XP rates in several game modes (Team Deathmatch, Control, Search & Destroy, and Gunfight) and numerous bug fixes. Activision stated that they are actively monitoring XP rates across all modes. Here's a summary of some resolved issues:
Global:
- Loadouts: Fixed an issue with loadout highlighting in the Loadouts menu.
- Operators: Resolved an animation problem with Bailey in the Operators menu.
- Settings: The "Mute Licensed Music" setting now functions correctly.
Maps:
- Babylon, Lowtown, Red Card: Exploits allowing players to leave the designated play areas have been patched. Red Card also received stability improvements.
- General: Addressed a stability issue related to in-game interactions.
Multiplayer:
- Matchmaking: Fixed an issue that sometimes prevented quick replacement of players who left matches.
- Private Matches: Private matches will no longer forfeit if a team has zero players.
- Scorestreaks: Resolved an issue causing the Dreadnought's missile sound to loop continuously.
While some issues, such as death upon loadout selection in Search & Destroy, remain to be addressed, Treyarch and Raven Software are actively working on further patches. Despite these minor post-launch hiccups, Black Ops 6 is widely considered one of the best Call of Duty titles in recent years, particularly praised for its enjoyable campaign.
