Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, is crafting The Blood of Dawnwalker, an open-world vampire RPG aiming for the quality benchmark set by The Witcher 3, albeit on a smaller scale. This ambitious project promises a compelling narrative experience.
A Focused, High-Quality Experience
In a recent interview with Games Radar, Creative Director Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz clarified the studio's vision. While acknowledging the smaller scope compared to AAA behemoths, he emphasized their commitment to AAA-level quality. The team, boasting extensive experience from titles like The Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk 2077, is prioritizing polish and depth over sheer scale.
Tomaszkiewicz explained that the studio's goal is a 30-40 hour main campaign. He challenged the notion that playtime alone defines AAA status, citing examples like Call of Duty which deliver high-quality experiences within shorter durations.
The Blood of Dawnwalker immerses players in the dark fantasy world of Vale Sangora. Players assume the role of Coen, a peasant imbued with vampiric powers, embarking on a quest to save his sister while navigating a treacherous and hostile landscape.
Currently slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, a gameplay reveal is anticipated in Summer 2025. While a firm release date remains unannounced, the game's promise of a tightly crafted, high-quality experience is certainly intriguing.
