Elden Ring Nightreign offers Nightfarers incredible loot to wield during their quest to defeat the Nightlords. But what happens when pushing a weapon beyond its limits? One player's viral experiment showcases the extremes—transforming a rare blade into a Nightlord-slaying powerhouse, only to watch its power collapse entirely.
The story revolves around Japanese YouTuber Mintius (via Automaton Media), who discovered the Marais Executioner Sword—a weapon that boosts attack power with each enemy defeated, albeit within designed limits.
Due to Nightreign's storm-imposed time constraints, this weapon's scaling rarely spirals out of control. Yet Mintius exploited precise enemy spawns to push its damage beyond intended thresholds—until the system broke.
Automaton reports Mintius farmed Wormface mobs for an hour using the Marais Executioner Sword, observing the results. Attack power capped at 9,999 after 725 kills, with damage peaking at 63,375. But upon defeating the 727th enemy, the sword abruptly dealt zero damage—leading to Mintius' demise.

The likeliest explanation? An integer overflow—where exceeding maximum values wraps damage back to minimal levels, akin to Civilization's infamous Gandhi glitch.
Mintius plans further tests to uncover the sword's true limits and damage potential, including attempting plunging attacks on Flame Chariots. Expect spectacular results.
For most Nightreign players, this serves as a cautionary tale: avoid over-farming the Marais Executioner Sword's potential. While formidable, pushing its mechanics risks catastrophic failure—sometimes within an hour.
