NPIXEL has announced the unfortunate closure of Gran Saga, bringing an end to its international service on April 30th, 2025. In-app purchases (IAPs) have already been disabled, and downloads are no longer available. This marks a short lifespan for the global version, which launched only in November 2024.
While Gran Saga enjoyed initial success in its 2021 Japanese release, its global launch failed to gain significant traction in the competitive mobile gaming market. Financial instability and the challenge of attracting players in a saturated genre contributed to the decision to shut down. Established games with loyal player bases created a difficult environment for newcomers to thrive.
Gran Saga's closure is unfortunately part of a larger trend affecting gacha RPGs. The highly competitive market makes it difficult for new titles to survive unless they offer a truly unique and compelling experience. Players often stick with established games, leaving newer releases struggling to gain a foothold.
Players who made in-app purchases and wish to request a refund have until May 30th, 2025, to submit an inquiry. However, refunds may not be possible in all cases, depending on usage and other circumstances.
For those who enjoyed their time in Ethprozen, this news will undoubtedly be disappointing. While Gran Saga's closure is regrettable, it highlights the challenges faced by many mobile games in today's market.
