GTA 6 Expected to Make $1.3 Billion On Its First Day

Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5's Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa, assures fans that the wait for GTA 6 will be worthwhile, even predicting its first-day sales. Discover what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.

Rockstar Games: An Unexpected GTA 6?

Ned Luke boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion on its launch day. In a Fall Damage YouTube interview, he expressed his excitement, highlighting Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected and the resulting anticipation.

Luke urges patience, emphasizing that "It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He points to GTA 5's impressive $800 million first-day earnings in 2013 as a benchmark, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass this. DFC Intelligence supports this optimism, projecting over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue within the first year, with $1 billion attributed to pre-orders alone.

The Return of Familiar Faces? GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6

Luke also offered insights into the possibility of GTA 5 characters appearing in GTA Online and potentially GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online since its launch, contrasting with Trevor and Franklin's appearances.

He hinted at Michael's possible inclusion in a future GTA Online DLC or even GTA 6 itself. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested Trevor's death as a "passing the torch" moment (ScreenRant, January 2025), Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite their enthusiasm, no official confirmation exists regarding the return of these characters.

GTA 6: In the Testing Phase?

Former Rockstar Games animator, Mike York, suggests GTA 6 is undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz (via GamesRadar), he emphasized the game's unique unpredictability: "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."

York believes the game is in its internal testing phase, with "a little work and throwing in little extras," suggesting playability and extensive internal testing.

Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, maintaining silence since. While a Fall 2025 release was initially speculated (based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report), no official release date has been announced.
