Netflix Unveils First MMO

Netflix is venturing into the world of MMOs with their latest announcement at GDC 2025: *Spirit Crossing*. Developed by Spry Fox, the studio behind cozy gems like *Cozy Grove* and *Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit*, this new life-sim promises to deliver the same warm, pastel visuals, soothing music, and a focus on fostering connections rather than competition.

Here’s What We Know About Netflix Spirit Crossing

In *Spirit Crossing*, players will have the opportunity to explore a vast world, build and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village alongside others. The game encourages you to gather resources, ride around on adorable fluffy creatures, join in dance parties, and simply enjoy the company of friends.

The visual style of *Spirit Crossing* draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and even incorporates elements of modern art like Corporate Memphis. The aim is to create an environment that feels timeless and inviting, a place where players might want to settle in for years to come.

A unique feature of the game is its in-game calendar system, which influences progression. For instance, trees you plant will take three to six real-world months to grow into a full orchard ready for harvesting. This slow-paced, long-term design echoes Spry Fox's previous experiments in *Cozy Grove*.

At the heart of *Spirit Crossing* is the emphasis on forming meaningful connections, a core element of Spry Fox's design philosophy. Studio co-founder David Edery has expressed his vision for the game to be a space that transforms strangers into friends.

Netflix has released a trailer for *Spirit Crossing*, showcasing its charming and enchanting world. You can watch it below to get a glimpse of what's in store.

Sign Up for the Closed Alpha

Currently, Netflix and Spry Fox are inviting players to participate in a closed alpha test for *Spirit Crossing*. If you're eager to experience the game early, you can sign up on the official closed alpha test page.

*Spirit Crossing* is set to launch later this year. In the meantime, don't miss out on our next feature about *The Great Sneeze*, which turns classic art into a playful puzzle adventure, available now.
