PlayStation Plus subscribers will get five extra days for free

Sony's weekend PSN outage, lasting nearly 24 hours, remains shrouded in mystery. While the company acknowledged an "operational issue" on social media, specifics regarding the cause and preventative measures remain undisclosed.

To compensate PlayStation Plus subscribers, Sony is adding five extra days to their subscriptions. The additional days will be automatically applied.

The outage significantly impacted gameplay. Over one-third of players were unable to log in, while others reported server crashes.

Sony's requirement of a PSN account, even for single-player PC games, has drawn criticism, and this outage fuels those concerns.

This isn't the first major PSN disruption. The infamous April 2011 data breach resulted in over 20 days of connectivity problems. Although less severe, the recent outage has left PS5 users dissatisfied with Sony's limited communication.
