Techland is taking Dying Light 2 even further with Tower Raid, a new roguelite-inspired mode offering chaotic gameplay and intense survival challenges. After extensive testing last year, this much-awaited mode is now officially live, giving players a completely new way to explore the virus-ravaged world.
In this mode, players do not control Aiden Caldwell. They instead choose from one of four distinct warrior types, each representing a unique combat style: Tank, Brawler, Ranger, or Specialist. Every class has specialized skills, encouraging varied strategies and cooperative play. For those seeking the ultimate test, Tower Raid lets players reduce their squad size—or even attempt to conquer the tower completely alone.
The mode comes with three difficulty settings—Quick, Normal, and Elite—which influence the run’s challenge level and duration. Every attempt is procedurally generated, ensuring that no two tower climbs play out the same. With randomized floor plans and unpredictable enemy spawns, staying adaptable is crucial for survival.
To keep the experience fresh, Techland added a unique progression system that turns every failure into a step forward. Each unsuccessful run unlocks new abilities and gear, gradually increasing the player’s chances in later attempts. Deep inside the tower, players will meet Sola, a mysterious vendor who trades exclusive rewards like the Office Day Outfit, Kuai Dagger, and Silenced Pistol to those who prove themselves.
Even with the approaching release of Dying Light: The Beast, Techland continues its commitment to improving Dying Light 2 through 2025. Coming updates will bring better co-op systems, smoother matchmaking, deeper community map support, extra Tower Raid characters, new melee and ranged weapons, a fresh weapon class, prologue refinements, and major graphical and performance upgrades.
