Agadon the Hunter is a new antagonist replacing the Marauder, but he is far more than just an upgraded version. This enemy is entirely unique, blending abilities from multiple bosses: he can dodge, evade assaults, and even deflect the Doom Slayer’s projectiles. He will unleash diverse combo attacks, requiring players to skillfully use a sawtooth shield—inspired by Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a title that deeply influenced the development team. Confronting Agadon will be the ultimate test of every skill players have honed in the game—a final trial of their mastery.
The developers chose not to step away from the idea of a demanding boss like the Marauder, confident that players welcome additional challenges. However, last time, the issue wasn’t the difficulty mechanics themselves, but how they were introduced and the lack of clear guidance.

Many mechanics essential for beating the Marauder had not been used earlier in the campaign, leading some players to feel the game’s pacing shifted too abruptly. A more gradual introduction of these mechanics and better player preparation should help resolve this concern.
DOOM: The Dark Ages is scheduled to launch on May 15, 2025, for current-generation consoles (PS5, Xbox Series) and PC (via Steam).
