In a Discord post dated February 7, 2025, inZOI game director Hyungjun Kim unveiled plans for a Karma system that will allow deceased Zois to transform into ghosts, contingent on their accumulated Karma points.

Despite its emphasis on realism, inZOI introduces a fascinating paranormal element with its Karma system and ghost mechanics. According to Kim, "If a Zoi dies with sufficient karma points, they transition to the afterlife. However, those who fall short must linger as ghosts until they accrue enough karma points to move on." The specific actions required to restore these points remain undisclosed.

Kim also stressed the balance in gameplay, noting, "We aim to keep ghost interactions limited to ensure they don't overshadow the core gameplay, yet we want to make these experiences meaningful when they occur." In the Early Access phase, players can engage in unique conversations with ghost Zois "at designated times under specific conditions."

"While we prioritize refining the realistic aspects of inZOI, I'm eager to delve into more fantastical elements in the future," Kim stated. "Occasionally diverging from the game's ultra-realistic setting could enhance the fun and complexity of our simulation of life."

In August 2024, inZOI's publisher, Krafton Inc., collaborated with several content creators to showcase the game through sponsored videos. Among them, MadMorph provided a sneak peek into inZOI's Karma system.

Fifteen minutes into MadMorph's inZOI video, he demonstrated a feature known as Karma Interactions. This feature presents players with various actions that can either boost or diminish their Karma points. For example, MadMorph's character engaged in a mischievous act by secretly farting on another Zoi's face, which elicited a reaction from the NPC. Other options included positive actions like "Throw Away Trash" or "Like a Friend's post," though these were not shown in action.

While the Early Access version of inZOI, set to launch on Steam on March 28, 2025, will focus solely on gameplay "while the Zois are still alive," the Karma Interactions are poised to play a more significant role in future updates. Enthusiasts eager to explore this innovative game have just under six weeks to wait before its Early Access release.
