If you’re a fan of REPO, you’re in for some exciting news. The developers at Semiwork are making significant adjustments to the game’s difficulty scaling, starting with a major overhaul of the Overcharge mechanic. This change comes hot on the heels of the game’s open beta, where player feedback played a pivotal role in shaping these updates.
Overcharge Overhaul
The Overcharge mechanic, which allows players to pick up enemies and throw them onto hard surfaces or away from their team, has undergone a transformation. Initially available from the start of the game, it will now be introduced at level 10. This change introduces a strategic layer to gameplay, as players must manage an Overcharge meter that, when filled, results in an explosion.
In addition to this revamp, Semiwork plans to roll out new difficulty-increasing mechanics every 10 levels—starting at levels 20, 30, and beyond. Overcharge serves as the first challenge in this progressive system. These new mechanics will not only enhance gameplay but will also be deeply rooted in the game’s lore. As Semiwork stated, “It won’t be just a gimmick for no reason. There will be something attached to this and we will share more details in the future.”
Developer Engagement During Open Beta
To better understand what players enjoy, Semiwork developers, including Pontus Sundstrom, actively participated in random matchmaking sessions during the open beta. Sundstrom expressed his delight in seeing players have fun with the new additions. He shared, “I’ve been asking some questions and finding out what you guys find fun, stuff like that.”
This direct engagement with the community allowed Semiwork to gather valuable insights into what resonates with players. Moving forward, players can expect even more improvements based on this feedback.
