REPO's development team has revealed exciting upcoming features, including a "duck bucket" mechanism to prevent the game's notorious duck from attacking players. Here's everything you need to know about these planned updates and Lethal Company creator's perspective on the game.
REPO's First Major Update Details
New Duck Bucket Mechanic
The upcoming update introduces a new map and revolutionary "duck bucket" item to contain the game's dangerous yellow duck. Semiwork Studios outlined these changes in a March 15 YouTube announcement.
REPO is a 6-player cooperative horror experience where teams carefully retrieve items while navigating terrifying environments. The infamous Apex Predator - a seemingly harmless yellow duck - transforms into a monstrous threat when disturbed, attacking players for 10 seconds before reverting to its harmless form.
The duck bucket will allow players to safely contain the duck, preventing accidental activations by teammates. The update also promises enhanced character expressions and various quality-of-life improvements.
New Museum Map and Public Lobbies
A brand new location called "The Museum" will challenge players' parkour abilities. Semiwork confirmed this environment will feature visible extraction zone boundaries for clearer loot retrieval.
The team is also developing public lobby functionality based on player feedback. "We're implementing matchmaking with public/private hosting options and a kick function," developers explained. "However, the kick feature requires complex server coding - new territory for our team - so implementation may take longer than expected."
Lethal Company Creator's Feedback
Since its February release, REPO has drawn comparisons to Lethal Company for its cooperative horror gameplay. On March 15, Zeekers shared constructive criticism via Twitter:
"REPO shows great potential. While initial movement felt sluggish and voice chat range limited, the core concept shines - especially when coordinating delicate item transports like moving a grand piano through tight spaces. Two key improvements: 1) Increase voice chat range and reduce muffling; 2) Focus more on claustrophobic environments like the mansion rather than open spaces."
When addressing enemy detection issues, Zeekers added: "The game needs better ways to learn enemy behaviors - though I'm certain the developers already have plans for this."
Currently ranking as Steam's #2 top-selling game (behind Counter-Strike 2), REPO has already peaked at 230,645 concurrent players - nearing Lethal Company's record of 240,817. This PC-exclusive horror experience continues to evolve with player feedback and developer updates.
