Deadlock Gets a Big Update from Valve

Author : Claire Mar 18,2025

Valve has released a major update for Deadlock, completely revamping its core map design. Gone are the four lanes; in their place is a more traditional MOBA-style three-lane structure. This fundamental shift dramatically alters gameplay. Previously, a common strategy involved a "1 vs 2" lane distribution. Now, with two heroes likely per lane, teams must rethink resource allocation and overall strategies.

The map redesign extends beyond the lane count, impacting the positions of neutral camps, buffs, and other key map elements. To help players adapt, a new "map exploration" mode has been added, allowing for unhindered exploration of the revised layout without the pressure of combat.

The Soul Orb system also receives an overhaul. Players can now accumulate souls even without delivering the final blow, leading to faster resource gathering. Furthermore, adjustments have been made to soul effects, notably reducing their air-hover time.

This update also includes refinements to sprint mechanics and character balance, alongside enhanced performance and bug fixes. Significant additions include support for DLSS, FSR, NVIDIA Reflex, and Anti-Lag 2.0 technologies. For a comprehensive list of changes, consult the official patch notes.
