Stats Reveal Player Distrust in Marvel Rivals' Ranked Mode

Author : Thomas May 22,2025

Recent statistics about the rank distribution in Marvel Rivals on PC have surfaced on social media, providing both intriguing and concerning insights. A key aspect to focus on is the distribution of players in the Bronze ranks. Notably, everyone who reaches level 10 in Marvel Rivals is automatically placed in Bronze 3, and progressing further requires engagement in ranked matches.

In typical competitive games, advancing from Bronze 3 to Bronze 2 is generally straightforward. Developers often design rank distributions to follow a Gaussian curve (bell curve), where the majority of players fall in the middle ranks, such as Gold. With Bronze situated on the lower end of the spectrum, the system typically "pulls" players towards the center, awarding more points for wins than losses.

However, the data for Marvel Rivals reveals a stark deviation from this norm. There are four times as many players in Bronze 3 compared to Bronze 2, indicating that the rank distribution is far from Gaussian. This significant disparity suggests that players may not be engaging with the ranking system as expected. The reasons behind this lack of interest could be multifaceted, but it represents a potentially alarming sign for NetEase, the game's developer. Such a distribution may indicate that players find the progression system unappealing or overly challenging, which could impact the game's long-term success and player retention.
