Capcom recently shared a pre-release update for Monster Hunter Wilds, addressing console specifications, weapon balancing, and more. This post summarizes key takeaways, including potential PC spec adjustments.
Console Performance Goals Unveiled
The December 19th livestream featured director Yuya Tokuda and other team members. They detailed target console performance:
- PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X: Two modes – "Prioritize Graphics" (4K/30fps) and "Prioritize Framerate" (1080p/60fps). A rendering bug in the framerate mode has been fixed.
- Xbox Series S: Native 1080p/30fps.
- PlayStation 5 Pro: Enhanced graphics are promised at launch, though specific details remain undisclosed.
PC Spec Changes & Benchmark Tool
While initial PC specs were previously released, Capcom confirmed efforts to lower minimum requirements for broader accessibility. Further details are pending closer to launch. A PC benchmark tool is also under consideration.
Potential Second Open Beta
A second open beta test is being considered, primarily to allow players who missed the first opportunity to experience the game. However, it won't include the improvements and adjustments detailed in the recent livestream; those will be present only in the full release.
The livestream also covered refinements to hitstop and sound effects for increased impact, friendly fire reduction, and weapon adjustments (Insect Glaive, Switch Axe, Lance, and others).
Monster Hunter Wilds is scheduled for release on February 28th, 2025, for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
